Mar de Frades Godello 2019

Mar de Frades Godello 2019 is a complex Spanish white wine from Rias Baixas on the north of Spain. Godello is very similar to Albarino, however slight hints of hazelnut and honey give it a different, more buttery finish.

Godello grapes were hand-picked and pressed immediately, without maceration or destemming, and then fermented carefully and under close supervision in stainless steel tanks. The wine spent 8 months resting before being matured in French oak barrels to bring out its most alluring and refined aromas.

Very light lemon hue with lime undertones; looks bright and cheery. Pineapple and mango aromas are the most prominent, but orange blossom and stone fruit, as well as balsamic notes, linger in the background and lend complexity.

Godello is somewhere between a Riesling and a Chardonnay: it starts off with a full, robust, and powerful mouthfeel but finishes smooth and refined with a subtle, suggestive note from the lees.
